Referral Process and Services Provided

Michelle is a licensed psychologist who provides bilingual services to children, adolescents and adults.  Clients can refer themselves for services by calling, by emailing or by filling out the form on the website.

Appointments can usually be scheduled weekdays from 9:00am to 4:00pm, hours varying depending on the day.  Sessions are approximately one hour in length with 50 minutes focused on therapy and 10 minutes used for payment processing and appointment scheduling.

For youth under the age of 16 years, the session time will be divided between the client and his/her parent(s).  If a follow-up is requested by a parent that is not present, 15 minutes will be taken from the session in order to do so by telephone or by email.

This office does not provide emergency services as sessions are scheduled ahead of time.  If you need emergency services, please go to the hospital near you.

Confidentiality

Client confidentiality is respected at all times therefore no information will be communicated to a third party without client’s signed consent (16 years and over) or without parents’ signed consent.  Nonetheless, there are limitations to confidentiality due to legal obligations.

A psychologist needs to:

  • inform a potential victim of violence of the client’s intention to inflict harm
  • protect a client with suicidal intentions
  • inform the proper authorities of the abuse and/or the exploitation of a minor (under the age of 19 years), a senior citizen or a handicapped person
  • report a health professional that has exploited and/or abused a client
  • release a client’s file if it is subpoenaed by a court of law
  • answer all questions asked by the court if witnessing under oath
  • answer all questions asked by the CPNB Disciplinary Committee if conduct is under investigation
  • get the written consent of both parents for a child that is less than 16 years of age if parents are separated or divorced unless the parent requesting services can provide legal documentation that he/she has full legal guardianship of the client. If parents separate once the client is already receiving services, the psychologist will require both signatures before continuing sessions.
